Baby Ceylon Spinach
Young Ceylon spinach (Basella alba or Basella rubra), also known as baby Ceylon spinach is the tender, early-harvested version of Malabar spinach. It has small, delicate, and succulent leaves with a mild, slightly tangy flavor and a less mucilaginous (slimy) texture compared to mature leaves. Rich in vitamins A, C, iron, and antioxidants, baby Ceylon spinach is highly nutritious and often used in salads, stir-fries, soups, and smoothies. Its tender nature makes it an excellent alternative to traditional spinach, especially in warm climates where it thrives year-round.
